about love

Don’t be fooled by words and statements when it comes to love.

Like wisdom, love is a joint, mixed concept — both theoretical and practical. Love depends greatly on wisdom, and wisdom deepens over time and through the pursuit of hard work.

Love is connected to wisdom. There is no real love without real wisdom, because only through wisdom does the one who loves know how to treat the loved one, and what boundaries and goals to set.

Love seems to have two sources: one is the fruit of the Holy Spirit; the other is a kind gift from God, a sign of His grace — often neglected, like many other proofs of God’s attempts to draw near to us. The difference between these two forms of love lies in their duration:

The former develops and ripens over the years, with no end.

The latter often blossoms quickly, only to fade away in most — though not all — cases.

This is why we must first look at the only sure love that exists: the love of God for His children.
